Location & venue
Where is Strawberry Hills Located?
Our address is 202 Pinnacle Hill Road, Mangatāwhiri but our entrance is a little further down the hill.
You can get to us from the Bombay motorway exit, but it’s easier to find us from the SH2 exit.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Our carpark is laid with course gravel. We have had guests in wheelchairs access our food truck and nearby picnic tables however it's not designed for accessibility yet.
Our goal is to develop the venue further as soon as we can, as we'd love to make it more friendly to all guests.
Are there toilet facilities?
We have a managed and regularly cleaned porter loo on site.
What can we purchase from the shop?
We have a little shop onsite that has a small range of our handcrafted jams and sauces. We also have some freshly picked produce available for those who rather not pick their own.
Strawberry picking
Do I have to pick my own strawberries?
Not if you don't want to! If you'd like to simply stop in to purchase some of our delicious strawberries - we have some freshly picked and pre-packed strawberries available from our onsite shop.
How much does it cost to pick your own strawberries?
It costs $30 per bucket to pick your own strawberries.
How does it work?
No appointments are necessary.
- Simply arrive when during the farms opening hours.
- Pickup a bucket from the shop.
- Follow the sign to the open strawberry picking patch.
- Fill your bucket to the brim.
- Bring the bucket back to the shop.
- Pay while we transfer your harvest into a bag to take home.
We like to encourage our guests to bring their own baskets, bags or buckets to help reduce waste.
Can we eat the berries while we're in the field?
We understand 1 or 2 strawberries may make their way into the little ones mouths, but we do ask that you resist the temptation to eat the berries until after they are paid for.
Do we need gumboots?
We lay down straw between our strawberry rows which helps keep the mud to a minimum.
Gumboots are the ideal footwear on a farm, but if you don't mind your shoes getting a bit dirty... plenty of people where their sneakers.
What else should we bring with us?
We highly recommend a hat, water and plenty of sunscreen! The New Zealand sun is quick to burn, even if it's cloudy or overcast.
We also encourage guests to bring their own carry bag or basket to take their strawberries home in to minimise the impact on the environment.

Picnic & play area
Is your playground safe?
Our helicopter playground was built by a very talented Waiuku local woodworker. Every element of the playground is design to be longlasting and sturdy. It's designed for children under 8 years old.
Are their activities for the above 8 year olds?
We have outdoor games, such as Cornhole and jumbo Noughts and Crosses. There's also plenty of open space to run around, and go cow spotting or visit our nearby waterfall.
Do the picnic tables have shade?
Yes. Our garden picnic area has outdoor umbrellas that help provide shade. It can get very hot out here over Summer!
Please feel free to bring your own picnic items, to make your time here as comfortable as you need.
Can we bring our own food?
Yes of course! This is a family friendly farm, and we understand kids get hungry. If you need something a little different to what we offer at our tuck shop, please bring along a snack for yourself or your children.
Waterfall
How do you get to the waterfall?
Strawberry Hills has a nearby naturally formed 9m high waterfall.
At any point during your visit you can set off on the walk. It's a 10 minute walk each way, through and adjacent cattle paddock and then over a rocky hill to the base of the waterfall.
You can see photos on our waterfall walk page.
Can we swim at the waterfall?
No. Unfortunately that would be a safety concern, so we do not allow swimming.
The waterfall is still a sight to see and makes a beautiful backdrop for great photos!
Can the general public access the waterfall any time?
No. The waterfall is on private property and is restricted to Strawberry Hills guests to enjoy during operating hours only.
